about the artist

My artistic practice emerges from a reflective entanglement with my lived experience through the filter of my working-class roots. Currently, my inquiry revolves around the invasive societal pyramids, charting their nuanced impact – both positive and negative throughout the trajectory of my life, from its genesis to looking ahead towards it’s inevitable conclusion. Each expression finds its voice through an intuitive selection of medium, material, and stylistic approach, each chosen to resonate with the emotional core I wish to transmit. In a world with so much poverty I do not intend to enforce poverty on the expression of my imagination. I navigate the complex terrain of human experience with the understanding that the personal is political. Giving form to art based in bereavement, the stark realities of medical interventions, the NHS under the strain of Covid, current news topics, the anguish of the Palestinian conflict, and the enduring trauma of child sexual abuse. When the work hurts my heart, my gaze shifts towards the luminous presence of the inspiring individuals around me, translating their uplifting qualities into fictionalized narratives immersed in a sense of agape.
